AUSTIN, Texas -- DIGITAL BJJ, LLC is proud to announce the launch of the world’s first Jiu-jitsu trading cards, beginning with one of the greatest competitors in Jiu-Jitsu history, IBJJF Hall of Fame inductee and world-renowned champion Xande Ribeiro. This inaugural drop will mark the world’s first ever officially licensed Jiu-Jitsu rookie cards.

Each card will boast an authentic piece from one of the athlete’s tournament-worn Jiu-Jitsu gi’s, as well as an on-card autograph by the respective athlete.* Each card will also be individually numbered, adding to its uniqueness and collectibility.

We have several aims with our Legendary Gi Autograph line. The 2022-23 design will honor some of the greatest, most acclaimed and most accomplished Jiu-Jitsu athletes in history. Upcoming featured athletes will be announced in the near future. Each of our exclusive releases will be strictly limited.

XANDE RIBEIRO TO BE FEATURED ON THE WORLD’S FIRST JIU-JITSU TRADING CARD

Alexandre (“Xande”) Couceiro Ribeiro is widely considered to be one of the greatest Jiu-Jitsu practitioners of all time, and one of the most dominating competitors the sport has ever seen. He has been monikered by many as “The Greatest”.

Born on January 20, 1981 in Manau, the capital of Amazonas, Brazil, Ribeiro is a direct descendant of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu lineage, which began with Mitsuyo Maeda, and then extended to Carlos Gracie, Helio Gracie, Royler Gracie and then Xande and his brother Saulo. Xande began his initial training under the tutelage of the Monteiro brothers, Guto, Binho, Yano, and Lucio. He currently holds a fifth-degree black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, as well as a black belt in judo.

Ribeiro is one of the winningest athletes in the history of IBJJF. (IBJJF, or International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, is the foremost prominent governing body of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu worldwide.) He collected 7 world titles as a black belt, adding 2 more gold medals in the purple and brown belt, totaling in his carreer 9 world titles. He is also a 2-time ADCC champion; and a 2-time Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu World Cup champion.

Some of Ribeiro’s historically most prominent wins include: 1) 2008 victory over Roger Gracie at the IBJJF World Championships; 2) 2006 victory over Roger Gracie at the IBJJF Pan Ams; 3) 2006 victory over Roger Gracie at the IBJJF World Championships; 4) 2004 victory over Marcelo Garcia at the IBJJF Brazilian Nationals; and 5) 2003 victories over Erik Paulson and Dean Lister at ADCC.

In 2020 Ribeiro formed his own Jiu-Jitsu academy: Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu. The Six Blades academy name and logo encompass the six core values of the academy: FAMILY. LOYALTY. DISCIPLINE. ATTITUDE. RESPECT. HONOR.

We are blessed in the world of Jiu-Jitsu with some of the most powerful and graceful martial artists to walk the face of the earth. Yet, unlike the superstar athletes mentioned above, the sport of Jiu-Jitsu does not have a place in the trading cards universe that honors or recognizes the greatest jiu-jitsu players in the history of the sport.
